Goals for the Day: Tues. Feb. 5

Ceramics 2: Texturized Slab Tiles

Today you will:

1.  …identify the intentions of an artist.  (R) … use glaze techniques that function with the finished clay piece.(K,S,P)

2.  …explore the implications of an artist’s purpose on the work and justify the purpose of a work of art. (R)   …think through why I create my own artwork, independently. (K,R)

OK…FIRST, let me start off by saying, many of you are at different stages in regards to this project, and that is OK.  Please pay attention to the new finishing techniques that I am showing you in the upcoming days.  If you have any concerns…ask while I am demonstrating it.  IT’S OK.  We will be starting the production of another project tomorrow, so keep focus today and get a game plan for how you plan on approaching and finishing these two projects throughout this week.

Don’t forget that your sketchbook is due February 15. (that’s NEXT Friday)

Painting 2: Glue Bottle Chronicles and Sketchbook Updates

Today you will:

1)  …identify the intentions of an artist.  (R)

2)   …explore the implications of an artist’s purpose on the work and justify the purpose of a work of art. (R)

You’ll be finishing up these glue bottle paintings towards the end of class.  I am putting up a list of things you need to complete before this painting is FINISHED.  Make sure you understand and follow-up on completing these tasks.  Tomorrow we will be doing a BLIND CRITIQUE, which means everyone will be looking at each others work…ooooh scary.  I will model what I am looking for with my art work and you can critique it as well, please, remember though, respectful comments that can help the art.  Anything else is bad.
