Goals for the Day: Wed. Feb. 20

Ceramics 2: Catch-Up and Follow Through (Prep for tessalation bowl)

I can :

1. … use different techniques to create useful works and sculptural works out of clay. (Skill,Product)

2. … make choices to plan my work based on certain challenges. (Skill,Product)

What’s the challenge:

Focus on SKETCHBOOKS that are left including, Regular: Favorite pair of shoes being destroyed (in color) and Advance: Narrative Drawing, an image that has a story behind it (on the back describe what you’re trying to show).

Also, once you’ve checked your grade consider the projects that will be on this card marking.  Do you have them completed or in the process yet? Here they are:

  • Texturized Slab tiles: Total of three with the different finishing techniques (glaze, watercolor, ink & pastel)
  • Cylindrical Vase: Glazed on the inside and out, using the sgraffito technique for design.
  • Hump Mold Bowl with Tessellation Pattern: Pattern on outside, glazed as a finish.

Painting 2: Neutral Color Scheme (Tree Rings)

I can:

1… see how developing a picture from the background forward reduces work later in the process. (Skill, Product)

2.  …see how the use of a wash can create a sky quickly.(SkillProduct)

Lets continue working with WASHES, to create a NEUTRAL tree ring painting.

Focus on SKETCHBOOKS that are left including, Regular: Favorite pair of shoes being destroyed (in color) and Advance: Narrative Drawing, an image that has a story behind it (on the back describe what you’re trying to show).

Also, once your satisfied with filling in the background with the sharpie marker, you can start prepping the next painting that we will all do at the same time.  SEE HANDOUT.
