Ceramics 2: Introduction to the wheel
Sorry for looking like a hot mess in that video, it wasn’t made on a ton of sleep. I did tweet out an apology, and then my other teacher friends made fun of me…whatever.
While we won’t be starting on the wheel just yet, I do want you guys starting on your re-worked project. I will set up a schedule for firings this month, and YES, your final project must be fired.
Painting 2: Ceiling Tile Prep
Today you will be working on the prep work for gesso-ing or “priming” your ceiling tile. Remember the key points that I made in the video:
1. You are not looking to paint the tile completely white. Gesso’s main purpose is to prepare the surface for paint. Gesso looks like paint, acts like paint, but is not PAINT. What I am trying to get at here is don’t waste time trying to get a completely white tile.
2. This might take 2 class periods. That’s alright, just keep in mind that the coats should be EVEN and NOT THICKER in any one place.
