Intro to Art: Mid-Term Project-3-D Tessellation

I can:
  • Follow my previously determined plan for my final project
  • Take advice/criticisms that will help in the completion of my project and better communicate my original concept.

So here we go…the start of your first “Final Project” (not sure if that makes sense) anyways, today you will receive any and all information and materials you’ll need to create a successful piece for your mid-term project.

As you can see, some of the dates might be changed due to the snow days (thanks a lot Mother Nature) but the overall meaning to your project will remain.

This is not just another project, this is to be a piece that illustrates the success that you’ve had throughout the semester.  Many of concepts that we’ve discussed in class up to know may be applied to create a more meaningful piece.  Good Luck.

Painting: Watercolor Study

I can:

  • use the previously practiced techniques on an actual watercolor painting (study)
  • maintain a high level of consistency in my watercolor work.

Well, it looks like the next few days will be dedicated to wrapping up the project we had before we left.  There will be big announcements concerning your MID-TERM project that you will want to pay close attention to, so make sure you have some way of keeping track of them.

Drawing: Pen & Ink Textures

I can:

  • Create a grid for a photo enlargement
  • Form criticism about artworks that work to accomplish personal meanings.

Today not only will we be looking into creating your grid with the SPECIFIC dimensions, but we will also be touching base on the theme for this project.  More importantly we will be taking a look at a historically relevant artist by the name of Chuck Close.  While I can’t cover EVERYTHING that is important about this man or his art, we will have some discussion based upon what observations you’ve made of his art, and your reactions to it.
