It is that time again!

I know many of you still don’t understand the reasoning for having these short quizzes following a major project, and that is OK.  Once our quiz is complete we will have a short discussion about the importance of monitoring your success.

Why is it hard for people to set goals, let along “manageable” goals?  Why do most people “fail” at reaching their goals, and what does that mean for their future success?

Once we finish our quiz, we will spend a little time on talking about PERSPECTIVE DRAWING, the whose’s, the what’s and maybe  even a little history (dum dum dum)

What do you know already about drawing in PERSPECTIVE?  What does it mean to have PERSPECTIVE?

Painting: Layering Acrylic Paint Quiz

  • demonstrate your knowledge of the Daily Goal by identifying the proper procedures for tracking your own progress within an hour’s exercise, class discussion or large-scale project.

Since this week is a bit weird, we are going to go over a “calendar” of what to expect each day, and what we will be focusing our new techniques this week on.  While we are still working with ACRYLIC paint, you will need to bring any colors that you have left over.  That paint will be what you use as we continue on a day-by-day path through working MIXING MEDIA with ACRYLIC paint.

What are some of the unique characteristics that you are noticing already about ACRYLIC paint?  I’d like you to talk with your partner about areas you can aim to improve upon when using this MEDIUM.

Drawing: The CHUCK CLOSE experiment

CONNECT & PRODUCE

  • identify the proper steps used in creating an enlarged drawing from a grid, by working out the proper measurements from two popular photo dimensions (4×6 and 5×7)
  • compare and predict the results from their previous drawing to their current by recalling the proper steps as well as thinking about modifications that may need to happen with their current work.

Moving on from last week’s class, we are going to take some time to talk about the requirements on this project, as well as start to layout the grid on our OVER-SIZED drawing.  While I was prepared for many of you to forget photos today, the one “sticking” point for today’s class will be to think about what size image you will print off to use for your ENLARGEMENT as well as what things you need to be thinking about within the requirements.

What type of image do you feel will work best for your drawing style?  What are some of the limitations of working with such a large format and What type of COMPOSITION elements can/will you bring into your drawing?
