Notice the layering affect of the clay, but also how the edges have already been smoothed into the sculpt. How can you best approach this technique in your work?

  2. Work within the create a plan for which you will follow specific steps in building a work of art, by completing an ACTION PLAN.

I’ve type up a little information for you guys on what you should look to expect over the course of working on this project.  This could be a little “trap” to a few of you in regards to setting REACHABLE GOALS.  It is my strongest belief that the next 15 days will be incredibly important to your ability to PRIORITIZE your daily steps, as well as think about some SELF IMPOSED deadlines.

What was the largest success you have in today’s work? Take a look at the rest of the classes work BEFORE we clean up. PAUSE 10 minutes before the end of class.

Intro to Art: Final Project (Escher Tessellation)

Is it a FISH or a BIRD? Notice the use or attention that has been paid to NEGATIVE SPACE, how can you use this characteristic in your FINAL PROJECT?

We will be wrapping up today with our final work with tessellation designs.  While most of the work we have been practicing involves specific steps, the most important take-away from today class is that you have the ability to discuss KEY differences (like where the cut-out pieces relocate to, and how to relocate the next tracing) by working through any issues you have in class.  I will point out some areas that trip students up a bit, but your responsibility is to take class time and work out any issues that you might have since we will be referring to this art style for our final project.

We are off and running with the final project today.  12 days and counting.  Today will be a research day in the computer lab.  What does research look like to you?  What does it mean to research art? or an artist.  Be sure to check out the Mid-Term help folder help tips on things to look out for when observing different paintings and painting techniques.  The goal for today’s session is not to finish everything, but to have a good head start as to which direction you may be headed.
