Intro to Art: Lined Shape Composition

  1. Engage in making a work of art or design without having a preconceived plan.
  2. Provide a concluding statement or section that follows from and supports the information or explanation presented by filling out a Daily Goal Form that answers the REFLECTION / EVALUATION question:

Using the HELP FOLDER associated with this project challenge, each student will be required to carry out the set of requirements needed to successfully build a lined shape composition.

Painting 1: Typographical Triptych Challenge

  1. Apply your understanding of COMPOSITION to create a series of thumbnail compositions using a letter/font of their choice
  2. Respond to the REFLECTION / EVALUATION question: How do you feel your thumbnails successfully show the use of various composition styles that were reviewed in MONDAY’S class? EXPLAIN your answers.

Today we will start the first few steps in creating your first ACRYLIC based painting.  As you can see in this challenge’s HELP FOLDER, there will be some interesting solutions to solving the main challenge of this painting.  As you work throughout this hour and next class session, I want you to be referring back the the COMPOSITION STYLES CHEAT SHEET that we reviewed on Monday for addition help on effectively using a unique composition in your painting.

Ceramics 1: Remembrance Bowls and Creating 3-D Forms

  1. Shape an artistic investigation of an aspect of present-day life using a contemporary practice of art or design.
  2. Reflection / Evaluation: What is was your CONCENTRATION about? SHARE YOUR IDEAS with your neighbor and MAKE A NOTE on your DAILY GOAL SHEET.

I’d like you guys to spend sometime before we start today thinking about strongest aspect of your bowls.  Do you feel you have communicated an emotion or message that you were thinking about at the beginning of the project?What was that message? How did you try to communicate that message through a clay bowl?
