  • Through experimentation, practice, and persistence, demonstrate acquisition of skills and knowledge in a chosen art form.
  • Be able to discuss your choices and evaluate a range of subject matter, symbols, and ideas by being able to defend the choices made with their peers.

Today we will go over your Semester Mid-Term Project, entitled The M.C. Escher Challenge.

As we will be looking through a few of Escher’s more famous works, what should be focused on a bit here is the attention to detail that Escher paid to the actual pattern.  Most people like to look at the details inside each tile and what it looks like as it “morphs” into something else.

The focus to this challenge will not only be to create a TESSELLATION pattern, but to make that pattern “turn-into” something else, which may need some time to come up with a unique tile.

As always, you can find the HELP FOLDER, featuring the presentation, student examples, as well as artist examples HERE.  The deadline for this project is January 26 during the hour you take your exam.

Painting 1: 3 Generations Studio Days

The class time throughout the week will be dedicated to working specifically on your 3 Generations Mid-Term Painting.  While I am not necessarily requiring you to fill out a Goal Sheet each day, I am expecting that each class period is being used to the fullest extent.

Make each hour you spend with your painting special by focusing in on a specific area that needs attention.  We will meet throughout the week to discuss any items or

REFLECTION / EVALUATION:  There are 7 days left for this final project, looking back on the challenges as a whole, I’d like you to identify areas of your project that you believe are the strongest.  As you consider the requirements for these mugs, I’d like you identify areas that you have some concerns about as well as two ideas you have for working out the issue.
