Intro to Art: Minimalism Sketchbook Challenge

  • DEMONSTRATE their understanding of the procedures of the weekly sketchbook by completing a themed/timed sketch.

So again here we are with the final sketchbook challenge of the cardmaking.  Today’s challenge will follow the theme of observation and minimalism like we have been discussing for the past few weeks, however, we will take it a step further.

Today you will be asked to revisit last week’s challenge and CREATE something from the basic art making tools that we have in the room.

You will need the following items for today’s challenge:

  • last week’s sketch
  • various colors of construction paper
  • scissors
  • glue

Your challenge for today is to create a “baseball” style pennant which advertises or celebrates the school/university that you selected last week in a MINIMALISTIC way.

You will be encouraged to follow the guidelines of last week’s challenge in that:

  1. your pennant focuses only on basic geometric shapes to communicate the logo.
  2. you incorporate color as a design element to better communicate the specific school.

Once you have finished, you will be turning in your work at the end of the hour.  No HASHTAG today!!!
