Intro To Art: How Your Work Will Be Evaluated

There is always an interesting discussion when it comes to grading or evaluating one’s creative expressions.  What makes one piece of ART better than another piece of ART?

This course may seem like just a simple art class where you will be doing simple craft projects over the course of the year, however, it is much more than that.  Today in class, we will discuss the make-up of what happens in class on a day-to-day basis and how this connects directly to the work you will be completing.  By the end of the class, you should have a better understanding exactly how your projects will be evaluated and the process I take when arriving at a student’s score by participating in the grading survey below.

Graphic Coms: Introduction to Illustrator Workspace

We are going to take a look at the workspace that the Adobe Illustrator program sets out for the user in preparation for your upcoming PRE-TEST project.

While there isn’t much different from the overall look of the Illustrator program to that of Photoshop, it is important before you start in on creating anything that you are aware of where to find certain and specific functions that the program has for you.

Below you will also find a copy of some basic shortcut key combinations that you can use for Illustrator that may help you when working on basic functions:

Adv. Drawing: Pre-Test Portraiture Drawing

Today each of you will be starting a three-day Pre-Test process of your portrait drawing abilities.  Keep in mind while this is presented on the surface as just a simple “Pre-Test,”  there are specific things as the instructor that I am looking for as a gauge to each student’s individual ability in sketching from observation.

Over the course of the next 3 days I would like you to internally be asking yourself these questions as you move through the completion of this task:

  • Have you improved your drawings skills over the past few days?
  • What is the biggest success you have accomplished this week?
  • Where are you struggling?
